How It Works
Level 1: Initial Questionnaire Form and Discovery Call
To get started, potential clients will fill out our initial questionnaire form by clicking the “Get Started Here” button. The initial questionnaire will go over your personal background and professional accolades, but most importantly, what qualities and values you seek for in your future partner. After filling out your initial questionnaire form, one of our Gay Matchmakers will review your questionnaire, and be in touch with you to schedule your personal consultation.
Level 2: Matchmaking Consultation with a Gay Matchmaker
Potential clients will schedule and hop on a sixty (60) minute Matchmaking Consultation with one of our Matchmakers via In-Person or Virtually by Zoom. During your consultation, our Gay Matchmaker will learn more about you, what you seek in your future partner, discuss our matchmaking process, and select & move forward with a matchmaking investment membership based on your requirements, preferences, wants, and needs in your love journey!
Level 3: Professional Date with your Matchmakers
New Matchmaking Clients will be invited to a two (2) hour, date (professionally!) with your Matchmaking Team. During the dinner, your Gay Matchmakers will learn more about you and what you are looking for in a partner in full-depth: from hobbies, interests, community service, religion compatibility, seeking marriage or a life partner, do you want to have kids, even ask what’s your sexual preference in the bedroom (yes, we ask that question, and must take everything into account), alongside having a nice dinner and a few drinks (because we gays love to socialize and have some good food and beverages).
Level 4: Sit Back, Relax, and Review Potential Matches
As your team gets to know you, they will be working on your behalf behind the scenes- depending on the Matchmaking Investment purchased; Matchmaking Clients will either continue with further sessions with our team of Gay Experts (whether it’s a photoshoot, coaching, styling, even Tarot Card and Astrology) or go on standby as your matchmaking team will begin the matchmaking process; scouting, recruiting, vetting, and curating quality potential matches. Matchmaking Clients will receive an email and/or text from your Matchmaking Team to present, review, and approve potential matches.
Level 5: Planning The Date
Once the Matchmaking Client and his match approve to meet one another, your Matchmaking Team will coordinate the first date- from the date, time, and location, we will even send you a date email regarding all of the date details, alongside our matchmaking guidelines and tips for your first date! Dates are planned as In-Person Dates, such as happy hour or dinner at the promenade!
Level 6: Post-Date Feedback and Call to Action
The day after the first date, our matchmaking team will send both the client and his match a date feedback form to fill out to see how the date went. Both daters will have the opportunity to follow-up with one of our Gay Matchmakers to discuss the date in-depth, and discuss a call of action- whether that’s both daters agreeing to meet for a second date or moving on to the next match/respectfully declining a second date.

While many matchmaking companies claim to work with LGBTQ+ individuals, there are key differences:

How many matches do you guarantee in a matchmaking investment?
The number of matches you can expect depends on your unique preferences, needs, and goals for your romantic connection, as well as the duration of your matchmaking investment. We guarantee that you will meet at least 3 potential matches, with the possibility of up to 10 matches within your investment. Our goal is to ensure that each match is aligned with your values and desires, so we focus on quality and meaningful connections, not just quantity.
Will I be able to see photos of my match beforehand?
Absolutely! At Best Man Matchmaking, we understand that physical attraction plays a significant role in compatibility. While emotional and intellectual connections are crucial, we also believe that a genuine, physical connection is important for building a meaningful relationship. Our Co-Owners, Anthony and Daniel, often share that “while you may match perfectly on paper and share similar energy, physical attraction is key to moving beyond a platonic connection. Without that spark, even the best matches can remain just friendships or, at worst, ghosted.”
We want you to feel confident and excited about your connection, so we ensure that you can view photos of your match beforehand to help you make an informed decision.
I’m based outside New York, do you work with and take on clients outside New York?
Yes, absolutely! At Best Man Matchmaking, we proudly work with clients across the United States of America. While our strongest service networks include California, Arizona, Texas, and Florida, we’ve successfully helped clients from many other cities and even internationally, including in Mexico and England.
If you’re located outside our strongest networks and can’t travel for dates, we’re happy to refer you to one of our trusted LGBTQ+ matchmaking partners who can offer personalized support in your area.

What is your success rate/how many clients get into exclusive relationships from the service?
At Best Man Matchmaking, we believe that success is more than just finding an exclusive relationship. We define success in many ways, including gaining dating confidence, developing a deeper self-awareness, or simply learning more about what you truly want in a partner. These are all important steps in the journey toward a meaningful connection.
That said, Anthony and Daniel have matched hundreds of gay singles who have transition into exclusive relationships, with some even taking the next step and getting married! What’s the frequency at which I will meet my matches during my membership?
The frequency of meeting matches varies, as we believe in quality over quantity.
At Best Man Matchmaking, we don’t simply share a set number of profiles each month for the sake of it. Instead, we take our time to ensure that each match is thoughtfully selected, focusing on both compatibility on paper and shared energy. We value a traditional, organic approach in our scouting and recruitment, so while there may be some waiting to ensure the best match, we are committed to getting it right.

Our Founder and Co-Owner, Anthony Canapi, is on track to complete his Master’s in Clinical Psychology, specializing in LGBTQ+ Affirmative Psychology by Summer 2025. In addition, he’s currently undergoing clinical training as a Marriage and Family Therapist, utilizing Client-Centered, Narrative, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Brainspotting modalities.
